Dear Praying Friends
Thanks for your ongoing prayers! God answers prayer! He wants to hear our prayer! He LOVES our dependence on him!
Fixing our eyes on Jesus
"Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne. Think of all the hostility he endured from sinful people; then you won’t become weary and give up. After all, you have not yet given your lives in your struggle against sin." (Hebrews 12.1-4 NLT)
Where do our eyes go when things around seems out of control? Where do our thoughts focus?
I shared with a friend today that when things don't go as I'd like, I tend to obsess about what's wrong. Even as I seek to pray about issues, I can get overly focused on the issues and lose perspective on the ONE I'm praying to.
The writer to the Hebrews encourages us to stay focused on Jesus... "fixing our eyes on Jesus." (NIV). I find that when I start down that path of worry, I can choose to either read or remember scripture. That turns my thoughts to God, to Jesus. Ok, now I can breathe again. Now I can pray again! Wow, thanks Jesus!
- Follow-up on connections made in Manitoba and Ontario – This is an ongoing task and prayer item… thanks for praying!
- Attended Thanksgiving Supper for migrant workers from Mexico – it was excellent to see how this ministry to a few migrant workers has grown to reach many, and now has Hispanic leadership too!
- Since returning to school, both Megan and Carly have had an inordinate (in my mind) amount of sick days… Karen too is not feeling well again – please pray for good health!
- Follow up with College Connections in Cambridge and Kitchener
Thanks again for your prayers!
